When the Eagles take the stage May 18 at the Idaho Center in Nampa, singer-bassist Timothy B. Schmit will probably see a few familiar faces in the audience.

"I have relatives who live in Meridian," Schmit told me last week. "My mom's from Idaho. She's from Rexburg, Idaho. I used to go up there a lot when I was a kid and always go through Boise and Twin Falls and all that.

"I have aunts and uncles and all kinds of folks up there, so I'm looking forward to coming back."

Schmit spoke fondly of a family reunion years ago in McCall.

"It was great," he said. "It's beautiful. I have a lot of great childhood memories of going to Idaho on these long car trips. It was long enough ago to where your car would heat up going up a mountain."
